Vegan:
“Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.“

Fidelity:
1a: the quality or state of being faithful
Via M-W
eg: his fidelity to his wife
b: accuracy in details : EXACTNESS
eg: The movie’s director insisted on total fidelity to the book.
The goal of this site is to apply a critical eye (or ear!) to the vegan movement.
Questioning and examining if the activism, current conversations and trends in the movement in alignment and cohesive with the underlying principles of veganism.
There’s a lot of noise, and a lot of people have questions and thoughts about what’s going on in the movement and society, and hopefully this blog can push away some of that background sound and really focus in on the underlying messages and help continue to progress veganism in society.
There are a few categories we use, Flash Points are shorter blogs, and Deep Dives are much more thorough and involved pieces.
And to answer sci-fi fans, yes, the name was in part inspired by Westworld!

About the Author
Dave Shishkoff is a long-time vegan (since 1990), activist and organizer who enjoys thoughtful and critical discourse. Finding a lack in critical discourse, and even gaslighting in the vegan movement recently, this blog is an attempt to challenge some of that erosion, and provide a resource for such topics. In particular, frustrated with the wide-spread acceptance of animal testing and ‘vegan’ foods (like Just Egg and the Impossible Burger), and virtually no organizations, bloggers or activists highlighting this hypocrisy, Dave put together this blog. Hopefully when challenged with these issues, vegans can use this as a thorough way to debunk and clarify when this matter comes up. (Not being able to find anything else!)
Dave is also a bike racer in the Vancouver Island cycling scene, and enjoys track (velodrome) racing, road, cyclocross and off-road riding. (Oh, and gravel!) Dave is very ‘out’ as a vegan, being the local organizer for the OrganicAthlete vegan cycling team since 2007, and trains hard to show you can be vegan and ride bikes pretty darn quick.
More recently Dave has also started rescuing small rodents, currently with two hamsters (Ashlin and Juno) and two guinea pigs (Luna and Cozmo). All are rescues from the BC SPCA. His experience with these tiny ones fuels his particular disdain for animal testing.
